Poultry farming on poultry farms is a topic that always provokes much debate and discussion. Do hens really live in horrible conditions? We try to find out.
'Caged - not life, but imprisonment'
World media often report on the poor conditions for keeping poultry on poultry farms. For example, in Yakutia, cages with chickens collapsed, and in Latvia, it was shown how birds live in cramped cages. But what about us?
- How is poultry kept in Ukraine? - asked the chief veterinarian of MHP (TM "Nasha Ryaba").
- No cages! The conditions for keeping poultry on our farms are as close to natural as possible. The birds have free access to water and feed, roam in birdhouses, where everything is checked and regulated by specialists. We care about their comfort and the absence of stress, so each bird has a spacious habitat.
'They are fed antibiotics'
Regarding the use of antibiotics, Ukraine has its own specifics. Many producers claim to refuse their use. However, only one enterprise has passed an official audit for the absence of antibiotics.
Globally, the issue of the conditions for keeping poultry on poultry farms is often discussed. As practice shows, Ukrainian poultry farms monitor the conditions to ensure the birds feel comfortable and safe, providing them with free access to water, feed, and space for activity. Regarding the use of antibiotics, the situation in our poultry farms is gradually changing, and more and more producers are refusing to use them, while the process is controlled and audited. Often, consumer trust depends on the openness and transparency of such enterprises regarding poultry welfare.
