What is the difference between fuel prices in Ukraine and Europe.
When preparing for a road trip across Europe, it's better to fill up your gas tank at the western border of Ukraine. Cheapest fuel in Europe
Currently, the cheapest fuel can be found in Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, and Lithuania. Fuel in the Netherlands and Denmark, on the other hand, is the most expensive. As for popular tourist destinations, fuel prices can pleasantly surprise in Germany, France, and Italy.
Approximate prices per liter of gasoline:
- Bulgaria: 1.23 euros
- Lithuania, Poland, Romania: 1.39 euros
- and others.
How to avoid overpaying for fuel
During travels, drivers often pay more for fuel than the average. Experts from the ADAC automobile club found that prices at gas stations near highways can be higher than those at stations off the roads. It's also worth remembering that in some countries, prices may be higher at night, which is a way of charging extra for service.
For example, in Italy, many foreigners overpay for fuel at service stations where employees fill up their cars.
Fuel prices in Ukraine
According to the Ministry of Finance, as of July 21, 2025, fuel prices in Ukraine were as follows:
- Gasoline A-95 (premium): 1.45 euros per liter
- Gasoline A-95: 1.35 euros per liter
- and others.
Ukrainian prices are slightly higher than in Bulgaria but significantly lower than in most European countries.
