Amazon is shutting down its app store for Android
Amazon has informed developers that it will cease operations of its app store for Android starting August 20, 2025. No new applications will be accepted in this store.
Additionally, Amazon has decided to close its digital currency program, Coins, which was used for purchasing games and apps. Users will receive a refund for their remaining coin balance as of August 20.
'We have decided to discontinue Amazon Appstore on Android to focus on the app store on our own devices, as that is where the vast majority of our customers interact with it,' a company representative said.
Instead, the Amazon app store will continue to operate on the company's own devices, including Fire TV and Fire Tablet.
