Americans Enter Odesa Port - Terminal Court Case.
Major American investment funds have gained control of the largest grain terminal at Odesa Port - Olimpex
The relevant decision was made by the Supreme Court of Ukraine. This is reported by journalists from the Financial Times.
The Supreme Court in the case supported the side of the American companies Argentem Creek Partners and Innovatus Capital Partners. This concerns the grain terminal Olimpex. It is capable of processing up to five million tons of grain per year and is considered one of the largest in Ukraine.
Previous Owners
According to media reports, the previous owners of the terminal, Odessa businessmen, deceived American entrepreneurs out of several tens of millions of dollars through a scheme involving pledged grain.
They failed to meet their obligations on loans, taking advantage of the war, and illegally disposed of the grain that was supposed to be collateral for the loan. The company GNT Group, whose main owner is Volodymyr Naumenko, who is a figure in a case regarding the theft of a 20 million dollar loan, seeks to avoid responsibility.
Financial Times adds that American funds have won an international arbitration for 150 million dollars and several court cases in the UK. Victory in the Ukrainian court has become a long-awaited success for them after a prolonged legal battle.
As a result of the court decision, American funds now have the opportunity to manage one of the largest grain terminals in Ukraine at Odesa Port, which is an important step for the development of the country's agricultural sector and strengthening foreign investments.
