AMCU allowed Tyhipko to buy Idea Bank.
The Antimonopoly Committee granted permission for Alkemi Limited (registered in Cyprus), a group owned by Serhiy Tyhipko, to acquire 100% of the shares of Idea Bank.
In October, the TAS group announced its intention to purchase Idea Bank from the Polish company Getin Holding for 34 million dollars.
After receiving permission from the Antimonopoly Committee and approval from the National Bank, the deal will be considered concluded. If the closure of the deal occurs after December 31, 2024, Alkemi Limited will additionally pay Getin Holding 800 thousand dollars for each full calendar month starting from January 2025.
Idea Bank Ukraine specializes in serving individuals in the retail business segment. The bank's main products include cash loans, credit cards, deposits, current accounts, and debit cards. As of June 30, 2024, the bank's total balance amounted to nearly 162 million dollars.
History of Idea Bank
Idea Bank is one of the older banks in the Ukrainian market. It was registered in August 1989 as a development bank for the forestry and woodworking industry under the name Prykarpatlisbank. In June 2007, this bank was acquired by the Polish financial group Getin Holding S.A. According to the National Bank of Ukraine, as of March 2024, Idea Bank ranked 26th among 63 banks by total assets (11.01 billion UAH). Nearly 510 million UAH was the bank's net profit in 2023.
monobank is a retail product of Universal Bank JSC, which is part of the TAS group, founded by Serhiy Tyhipko.
