Ange Postecoglou on negativity in the Premier League: My first season at Tottenham seems non-existent.
According to The Sun: Ange Postecoglou has spoken about the 'negative sentiments' surrounding him since his arrival in the Premier League.
The new Nottingham Forest manager noted that his first season at Tottenham, where he led the team to fifth place in 2024, is “unknown to anyone”.
AlamyPostecoglou, 60, is preparing for a match against Burnley, hoping for his first victory since being appointed manager, replacing Nuno Espirito Santo.
After losing his debut match against Arsenal, Ange's team lost their win, leading 2-0 at Swansea, and lost 2-3 in the Carabao Cup match. He acknowledges that the starting results are not impressive but says he is used to criticism.
“I don’t know why. I’m charming! Since my arrival in the Premier League, there has been a negative reaction.”
“It's an interesting observation of human nature. I came from Scotland and understand that there is not much respect for the game there.”
“But in my first year at Tottenham, I finished fifth, after the club ended up eighth, and lost my best player Harry Kane.”
“This would have allowed the team to reach the Champions League in any other year.”
“But, unfortunately, the first year is somehow 'not counted'. Many people only see that last year the team finished in a low position and my style of football 'does not work'.”

Speaking about his slow start at Nottingham, he noted: “There were two defeats, but I feel progress during the time I have been here.”
Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White is going through a tough period after a failed transfer to Tottenham in the summer.
Postecoglou said: “I haven’t spoken to Morgan personally yet, but I know he is very determined to get his form back.”
“It hasn't been easy, though it's great to have the opportunity to work with England. These are challenges, and I’m sure he learned a lot last season — mainly, how to overcome these difficulties.”
“However, watching him in training, it’s clear he is eager to get back on the pitch.”
In Postecoglou's comments, there is a sense of optimism despite the difficult starting results. He hopes that over time the team will find their style of play and return to competitiveness in the Premier League. Nottingham Forest fans are eagerly awaiting the first positive results under the new coach, as this could become an important milestone for the club in addressing previous failures.
