Ange Postecoglou on the brink of record: will he become the worst manager in Premier League history.
According to The Sun: Ange Postecoglou could become the Nottingham Forest manager who earns the title of 'the worst manager of all time.'
Under pressure, the 60-year-old Australian coach confirmed that he plans to meet with club owner Evangelos Marinakis this week, trying to keep his position at the City Ground.
AlamyPostecoglou typically promises trophies to his clubs within two years, but this time he could receive this 'award' much sooner.
A 2-0 defeat to Newcastle on Sunday marked the fifth loss in seven matches under his leadership at Forest.
Despite the lack of wins, he remains the bookmakers' favorite to be the next manager to be sacked, although he has only been in the job for 27 days.
Fans during the Europa League match against Midtjylland chanted: 'you'll be sacked in the morning', similar shouts were heard at St James' Park as well.
Critical Moment
Awaiting a conversation with the stern Marinakis, Postecoglou stands on the brink of setting an unwanted record.
Les Reed currently holds the record for the shortest managerial tenure in Premier League history — 41 days at Charlton in 2006, after which he was deemed 'the worst football manager of all time' in the Premier League with only four points from seven matches.
Postecoglou could become the new 'holder' of this unofficial title if he does not survive the international break.
Although he is confident in his abilities, Postecoglou confirmed that he plans to speak with his employer.
“I expect a discussion with the owner and everyone at the club about what we have started here and where we are,” he said.
“I took this role knowing it would be a big challenge, and nothing I've seen over the last three and a half weeks has changed my mind about that.”
Postecoglou emphasized that he 'loves the fight' and understands that failures are part of the profession, stressing that success comes to those willing to compete.
Change of Strategy
The situation at the club has changed since Postecoglou's appointment. He has made significant changes to the team's playing strategy, forcing players to adapt to new demands.
