On the fourteenth day of the 2024 Olympic Games, 17 Ukrainian athletes will compete in six sports: canoe and kayak rowing, wrestling, rhythmic gymnastics, modern pentathlon, breaking, and artistic swimming.
At the rowing channel, special attention will be given to Ukrainian canoeists Lyudmyla Luzan and Anastasiia Rybachok. They have already successfully passed the preliminary race, taking second place behind the representatives from China. To reach the final, the Ukrainians need to surpass at least one boat in the semifinals. If they manage to successfully pass the semifinals, they will compete for medals against crews from China, Canada, Spain, and other countries.
Today, good results can also be expected in rhythmic gymnastics. In the morning session of the competition, group exercises will be represented by Ukrainian athletes. In the evening session, 16-year-old Taisia Onofriichuk will make her debut. She successfully passed the qualification and took fourth place with a slight gap from the top three. Onofriichuk's main rivals will be Italian Sofia Rafaeli, Bulgarian Boryana Kaleyn, German Daria Varfolomeev, and Israeli Daria Atamanov.
The wrestling tournament is coming to an end, and today wrestlers Iryna Koliadenko and Oleksandr Kotsianivskyi will compete. Koliadenko, who is a reliable bet for women's wrestling, has a chance to fight for medals. She needs to defeat Mongolian Orkhon Purevdorj and Bulgarian Biliana Dudova to secure a podium place. Kotsianivskyi also has a chance to compete in the consolation matches if Georgian Geno Petriashvili advances to the final.
Oleksii Sereda, the last Ukrainian diver, will start his performances. He got a chance to compete on the ten-meter platform after a hand injury. We hope that his recovery is successful and he continues to compete.
Today there will also be breaking competitions, which are being introduced at the Olympics for the first Time. Ukraine will be represented by three dancers: two b-girls and one b-boy. The competition will start with the group stage, where Ukrainians will fight for a place in the quarterfinals.
Ukrainian pentathletes will also compete for a place in the final. Oleksandr Tovkai leads the semi-final group B, while Vladyslav Chekan is in 12th place. Ukrainians will need to overcome horses, complete the swimming and running parts of the modern pentathlon, and earn additional points in the bonus fencing round.
In the Paris pool, artistic swimmers Marina and Vladyslava Aleksiiva will show their performance. They will compete in the technical part of the duet competition, where they often face setbacks. The sisters rely on performing a routine that is not considered too difficult. The competition for medals promises to be intense.
