Anthony Joshua and Eddie Hearn discuss the next fight

According to The Sun: Anthony Joshua met with Eddie Hearn to discuss his next fight during dinner. However, the conversation was interrupted by representatives from UKAD who came to conduct unannounced tests.

But UKAD came for Joshua's unannounced test

Eddie Hearn traveled to Dubai to speak with Joshua, who has not stepped into the ring since his knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024.

Joshua believes it relates to his pull-ups

The dinner was interrupted when representatives from UKAD came to collect random samples from Joshua. Hearn shared his impressions on Instagram:

“The most tested boxer of all time. Hasn't boxed in a year. In Dubai for dinner and UKAD shows up.”

In a video message, Hearn said:

“I just want to say, incredible scenes. UKAD is coming.”

Joshua then responded:

“Ed, they probably saw my pull-ups.”

Joshua flexed his muscles for the camera and later posted a video of himself doing pull-ups by the pool.

Joshua's plans for a comeback

UKAD can conduct tests at any time and place along with the British Boxing Board of Control. Athletes are required to inform UKAD of their whereabouts, as violations of this rule can lead to sanctions. Hearn also posted a photo with Joshua captioned:

“It’s time to get the show back on the road.”

The 35-year-old Joshua underwent elbow surgery in the summer, which has likely delayed his return to the ring, despite unexpected negotiations with Jake Paul. The YouTuber turned boxer announced a showcase fight against lightweight champion Gervonta Davis on November 14.

Hearn told Sky Sports:

“We are definitely not waiting for a fight with Jake Paul. We are making our plans for January-February 2026.”

Joshua also challenged Tyson Fury to a fight, who announced his retirement from boxing after two losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024. Fury hints at a possible comeback, and Hearn expects Joshua and Fury to have warm-up fights before a major bout.

Hearn noted:

“Now he is back in training, and my last conversations with him were very positive regarding setting a comeback date.”

“The next step is to fix a fight for early 2026, and then we want Tyson Fury.”

Eddie Hearn

Hearn revealed that as many as ten candidates are currently being considered for Joshua's return, including 2016 Olympic champion Tony Yoka. He remarked:

“Tony Yoka is definitely on the list, I expect it to be a boxer from the top 20, not from the top 5.”

“It’s a rematch that has to be dangerous to show that we are ready to take a risk in a big fight.”

“So far, nothing has been discussed, no offers made. But I will meet with Joshua next week, and we are ready to clarify everything.”

Joshua is preparing for his comeback to the ring after a long absence. His efforts and the support of the team could influence the current situation in boxing, especially regarding the upcoming fight against Tyson Fury, which promises to be a significant event for the sport.
