Anthony Joshua may fight in Africa: what is known about the historic match.
According to The Sun: The next fight for Anthony Joshua may take place in Africa and has already been dubbed 'a match made in heaven'.
The Brit has not stepped into the ring since October 2024, when he suffered a defeat against Daniel Dubois in a title fight for the IBF world champion.
PAPotential fight in Africa
Anthony Joshua, who will turn 35, may return to the ring in early 2026 in Africa. Sports promoter Ezekiel Adamu stated that Joshua is preparing for a historic fight.
According to him, Nigeria could become the host country for the two-time heavyweight world champion.
Adamu reported that Joshua and his team are interested in holding the fight specifically in Nigeria.
“We are hopeful for Joshua. I spoke with him and his team, and they told me: 'If we received an offer from Nigeria, it would be an ideal opportunity.'”
“We are considering the first quarter of next year. The Nigerian government is also involved. This is a key issue.”
This news comes just a week after Joshua reached out to Tyson Fury with a fight proposal.
Challenge and ambitions
Joshua admitted he is ready to 'break the head of Gypsy King' if they can come to a peaceful agreement for a fight.
He also expressed readiness to accept a challenge from promising boxer Moses Ituwami 'at a moment's notice'.
However, the possibility of this fight may depend on whether it will be for the heavyweight world champion title.
Joshua noted that he is interested in holding a fight on the African continent, following the example of legend Muhammad Ali, who fought George Foreman in Africa in 1974.
