Freezing of accounts for pensions and social payments: how Ukrainians can protect their funds.
According to inkorr.com: The issue of freezing accounts receiving pensions and social payments is becoming increasingly relevant for Ukrainians. Lawyer and activist of the NGO 'Social Movement' Vitaliy Dudin emphasizes that, despite legislative guarantees of the inviolability of these accounts, this right is violated due to debts for utility services.
'The law explicitly prohibits freezing special accounts for receiving social assistance and pensions. At the same time, the situation changes if funds from other sources, even in symbolic amounts, are credited to the card.'
For many citizens, resolving the issue of account freezes becomes complicated due to bureaucracy. Unblocking an account is often only possible through court proceedings, as financial institutions rarely resolve this issue amicably. Dudin also notes that executors receive an additional income of 10% from the collected amount, making freezes profitable for them.
How to protect your funds
To safeguard your pension and salary on the card, it is important to pay utility services on time and avoid accumulating debts. You should also carefully monitor financial flows in your account to prevent freezes due to minor amounts that may come from other sources.
In a situation where debts for utility services cause account freezes, it is important to remember your rights and options. Citizens should actively monitor the state of their accounts and respond promptly to any changes in financial inflows. Knowing your rights and actions in difficult situations can help avoid troubles and protect your finances.
