The historical drama 'Yaroslav the Wise - the father-in-law of Europe' will be aired on the channels 'Dim' and FREEДОМ

On the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day, on August 24, the premiere of the historical documentary drama 'Yaroslav the Wise - the father-in-law of Europe' will take place on the channels 'Dim' and FREEДОМ. This large-scale project will reveal the lesser-known pages of the life of one of the most prominent figures in Ukrainian history. The premiere on the 'Dim' channel will be at 18:30, and on the FREEДОМ channel at 10:30.

The film, with artistic reconstructions, combines documentary precision with the emotional power of a true drama. Viewers will be able to immerse themselves in the life journey of the great Prince of Kyiv Yaroslav the Wise - from a difficult childhood and shape to a powerful ruler who united the lands of Rus around Kyiv and created a powerful state of Medieval Europe.

“Addressing the figure of Yaroslav the Wise allows us to clearly and understandably show our audience why Ukraine has been a part of Europe since the times of the princely era. It is important to tell our ancient civilizational community with the West in various ways and as much as possible, also because Russia constantly tries to privatize this period of Ukrainian statehood history. Unfortunately, Russian myths still firmly hold in the international cultural space, and works like the film about Yaroslav the Wise help to dismantle them,” says the CEO of GP 'MPIU' Julia Bin.

Particular attention in the film is devoted to the little-known facts about Yaroslav the Wise and his marriage to the Swedish princess Ingygird, which became the beginning of a far-sighted foreign policy strategy. Thanks to the dynastic marriages of their children, Kyivan Rus became a key center of European geopolitics: three daughters of Yaroslav became queens of Norway, France, and Hungary.

'I have long harbored the idea of adapting the Princely era, for as a Kyivite, I feel a direct connection to the legacy of our ancestors and believe that the role of the dynastic policy of Yaroslav the Wise is underestimated in Europe. With this film, we wanted to remind that Ukraine is not going to Europe now, but has always been there - a thousand years ago,' comments the director and producer of the film Olesya Nogina.

The historical drama 'Yaroslav the Wise - the father-in-law of Europe' is a new film that will reveal the life path of the great Prince of Kyiv Yaroslav the Wise and his influence on the creation of a powerful state. Through documentary materials and artistic reconstructions, viewers will deepen their knowledge about this important figure in Ukrainian history and its significance for Europe a thousand years ago.
