Russia Intensifies Assault on Three Fronts: Frontline Update.
Serhiy Bratchuk’s Analysis of the Battlefield Situation
According to UATV: On July 4, 2023, Serhiy Bratchuk, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, provided an update on the frontline situation during an interview with the FREEДOM TV channel. He focused on the Kostiantynivka, Lyman, and Huliaipole sectors, noting that Russian forces are attempting to ramp up pressure in these areas but have failed to achieve any substantial gains. This assessment comes amid ongoing hostilities in eastern and southern Ukraine, where Moscow seeks to seize the initiative.
According to Bratchuk, Russia has redeployed units from its 51st Combined Arms Army to the Kostiantynivka direction, signaling an intent to escalate operations there. However, he emphasized:
“Today we can say that on the Kostiantynivka axis, Russia is trying to increase its pressure” - Serhiy Bratchuk.
Despite these moves, Ukrainian forces maintain control of the situation.
Bratchuk also observed that “the Russians continue trying to intensify pressure on the Huliaipole direction, yet even here there are no radical breakthroughs.” On the Lyman front, Russian troops remain active, but Ukrainian units hold their ground. During May and June 2023, Ukrainian defenders successfully diverted elements of Russia’s 58th Combined Arms Army on the Stepnohirsk axis, a testament to effective defensive operations.
Ongoing Operations and International Backing
Bratchuk confirmed that “the 'logistical lockdown' operation is still underway,” a strategy designed to disrupt key supply routes for Russian forces. He dismissed claims by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin regarding the capture of Kostiantynivka and Dobropillia as false, a point echoed by Andriy Kovalev.
In short, despite Russia’s efforts to apply greater pressure across multiple axes, Ukrainian troops continue to keep the situation firmly under control, underscoring the resilience and effectiveness of their defensive stance. This update highlights the critical role of strategic planning and flexible positioning amid relentless military challenges, while also reinforcing the need for sustained international support to help Ukraine defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
