Tension rose after the final whistle as Newcastle's midfielder Joelinton approached one of Arteta's staff members.
While the coaches discussed the game, Joelinton approached the Arsenal technical area.
The Brazilian presumably pushed assistant coach Miguel Molina, and then Arteta stepped between them to pull his colleague away and end the conflict.
Joelinton, extremely frustrated, pointed at the coach but did not attempt to follow him, instead turning to his team to thank the fans.
This incident marked a bitter end to a heated match in the northeast.
Arsenal's victory and praise for the coaching staff
Despite the conflict, one of Arsenal's coaches was in the spotlight. Set-piece coach Nicolas Jover was praised for his work, which changed the course of the game for the Gunners at the end of the match.
Arsenal could have opened the scoring in the first half when they received a penalty for a foul on Victor Gjokeres by Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope.
However, referee Jarred Gillett reviewed the moment on the monitor and overturned his decision, noting that Pope had touched the ball and his actions were justified.
Newcastle capitalized on the change in the course of the game when new striker Nick Woltemade converted a set-piece from Declan Rice in the 34th minute.
Mikel Merino, who was substituted in, caused problems for his former club by scoring with a header from a set-piece by Declan Rice in the 84th minute.
Gabriel completed the comeback with another goal from a set-piece twelve minutes later, cutting the ball over Pope into the net, scoring the winner in the closing minutes.
This victory allowed the North Londoners to reduce their deficit to the title challengers to two points after they lost to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Ultimately, Arsenal's victory highlighted not only their strength on the pitch but also led to tensions between the teams, which were palpable in the final minutes of the match. This game was crucial in the context of the title race, as every point gained in a tight competition counts.Read also
