Arsenal forced to change kit for Champions League match: what is the reason.
Change of Arsenal's kit before the Champions League match
According to The Sun: The Arsenal team has been forced to make changes to their kit ahead of the Champions League kickoff. In the match against Athletic Bilbao, taking place today at San Mamés Stadium, players will wear a new kit in blue, red, and white, which has already been liked by fans.
Arsenal is forced to change their away shorts for the match GETTYHowever, due to a color clash, Arsenal will discard the dark blue shorts and wear white instead. This is because the Bilbao players have black shorts and black socks, which would cause a discrepancy in the teams' kits.
It should be noted that last season the team reached the semifinals of the Champions League but was knocked out by the eventual winners – Paris Saint-Germain, who are again considered favorites for the trophy.
Head coach Mikel Arteta has signed eight new players in hopes that these changes will improve the team's chances of winning this year's tournament.
He assured: “Like other teams, we strive to strengthen the squad and win trophies. This is our initial plan, but we understand that the path will be difficult.”
“The margins in this competition are very small; you need to be in top form from the very beginning to maximize your chances,” Arteta noted.
Recalling the harsh exit by PSG, Arteta added: “This teaches us a lot because we felt the pain not only as players; we created great expectations in the club and dreamed of winning.”
