Military Operations in Sumy

Ukrainian military continues to actively fight against Russian occupiers in the border area of Sumy region. They are destroying their positions and concentrations of forces, while the artillerymen of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment perform various tasks to liberate the region. A correspondent from the FREEДOM channel visited Ukrainian fighters on the front line.

Artillery Operations

On the front, the crew of the American howitzer M777, known in the Ukrainian army as 'Three Axes', is actively working.

The battery consists of a commander, a gunner, and four loaders.

“The 155mm caliber has much better accuracy than, say, the old Soviet models,” said the gunner with the call sign 'Tikhyi'.

Thanks to the coordinated work of the artillery, the assault troops of the 225th regiment were able to liberate the villages of Kondratovka and Andriivka from Russian occupiers in mid-July.

“The assault troops, drone operators, and artillerymen. When we talk about pushing back the enemy and breaking through our forces, it is mostly the merit of the assault troops. We provide support: helping to clear the road and cover them,” explained the gun commander with the call sign 'Vito'.

The artilleryman with the call sign 'Chichen' emphasized that every day the enemy is pushed back further.

“The infantry and we are destroying many targets, doing productive work and will continue to push them back,” he noted.

The Situation on the Front

According to the General Staff of Ukraine, dozens of battles occur daily in the Sumy region. Russian occupiers strike with guided bombs and conduct over a hundred shelling from Russian territory. The Ukrainian Defense Forces confidently repel the enemy's offensive.

It is worth noting that in recent days there have been 172 combat clashes at the front. The fiercest battles have taken place in eastern Ukraine — in the Pokrovsk, Lyman, and Novopavlivka districts, where Ukrainian military repelled enemy attacks in about 30 populated areas.

These military actions indicate the duration and intensity of the conflict. Despite previous achievements, the situation presents many challenges, and Ukrainian law enforcement agencies continue to fight for the protection of the country's territory. Attention will remain focused on the Sumy region, where the situation remains difficult for now.
