According to The Sun: At least 18 people were killed after a drone attack on a police helicopter and a car bomb explosion in Colombia.

A car filled with explosives detonated near a military aviation school earlier, killing five people and injuring more than 30, law enforcement confirmed.

Meanwhile, authorities reported that at least 12 people died in a drone attack on a helicopter transporting personnel in Antioquia in northern Colombia.

Antioquia Governor Andres Julian stated that the drone struck the helicopter as it flew over coca farms.

According to some testimonies, the car explosion in Cali hit the Marco Fidel Suárez Military Aviation School, killing local residents and damaging homes.

One resident nearby at the time said they heard a 'loud' sound of the explosion near the airbase.

The mayor of the region, Alejandro Eder, imposed a state of emergency in the city and later announced a temporary ban on the entry of large trucks into the area.

The Ministry of Defense labeled the car explosion as a terrorist attack, blaming the drug cartel known as Mordisco.

Any further security measures for residents will be determined at a security council meeting led by the president and military leadership.

Rising number of drone attacks in Colombia

After the horrific attacks, the president and military leadership announced they would hold a security council meeting to 'determine additional protective measures' for residents.

This comes amidst increasing violence in the country in recent months, with drone attacks becoming more common.

Last year, there were 115 such attacks recorded in Colombia, and last week three soldiers were killed in a drone attack in the southwest of the country.

A Ukrainian journalist presented a report on the tragic events in Colombia, where a powerful explosion from a car bomb and a drone attack led to the deaths of at least 18 people. Local authorities are responding to the increasing number of drone attacks in the country, calling for additional security measures.
