Drone Strike in Zaporizhzhia: One Dead, Three Wounded in Russian Attack.
Assault on Zaporizhzhia
According to UATV: A Russian drone attack on Zaporizhzhia on March 16 killed one man and left three others injured. The nighttime assault, carried out with explosive drones, targeted a residential area, sparking a fire that destroyed one private home and damaged roughly twenty others. This marks the second consecutive day of attacks on the city, part of a broader escalation in the region.
Rescue workers reported pulling two people from the rubble of the destroyed house. The Russian military has deployed 211 attack drones, including models like the Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas, in its ongoing campaign. Local residents witnessed the devastating impact firsthand.
'It exploded, then caught fire. We went outside—another one was flying in. It detonated over there. It damaged the garage and completely wrecked the house next to it.' — Leonid, a local resident
Another resident, Lyubov, described severe damage: 'The windows and roof are damaged, with glass everywhere. But we don't know what will happen next. I have no idea. There's an elderly woman there—I don't know where to relocate her; maybe her daughter will figure something out.' Rescue operations are ongoing, but the situation remains tense.
Humanitarian Toll of the Strikes
The back-to-back attacks on Zaporizhzhia highlight an escalation in the conflict, causing severe humanitarian consequences for residents. Strikes on residential areas underscore the high risk to civilians caught in the crossfire. Emergency services are struggling to manage the aftermath, but the situation remains dire, demanding urgent action from state authorities and international organizations.
