Drone Attack in Odesa Region: Six Injured, Including Three Children.
According to ТСН: In the Odesa region, the number of injured as a result of the drone attack has risen to six people. Among them are three children and three adults who were injured during the night raid by Russian drones. Attacking the region around midnight, the enemy launched about two dozen kamikaze drones from the sea. In some areas, electricity, water supply, and heating were lost immediately.
Details of the Attack
Among the injured is a seven-month-old baby, an eight-year-old girl, and a 14-year-old teenager. All of them are currently in hospitals, and the condition of the children is assessed as moderate.
Most of the injured are residents of an apartment building that was hit by a drone. As a result of the attack, a large-scale fire broke out. Some residents managed to escape from their apartments, but others were rescued by firefighters. Many people needed psychological assistance.
“There was a powerful explosion and fire. We were blocked on both sides, and it was impossible to exit until the firefighters arrived and helped. The eighth and ninth floors were completely blocked; assistance will be needed because there are no windows, and the fire severely damaged the balcony. We are disabled, so we cannot do this ourselves,” said Volodymyr, a local resident.
Hanna, one of the locals, noted that she managed to open the windows to reduce the effects of the explosion, so they remained unharmed.
“My children quickly got up and wanted to leave, but they couldn't get out because there was strong fire in the entrance. We dressed blindly—immediately a very pungent smoke came in. Luckily, the balcony is in the back, and we opened the window to breathe there. We have very friendly neighbors; those who couldn’t get out helped,” said the woman.
Consequences of the Attack
The drone attack began shortly after midnight. Initially, the drones gathered over the sea and then massively attacked the city, trying to hit energy facilities and a postal depot. Some of the drones flew at low altitudes, hitting residential buildings.
In the apartments where explosions occurred, fires broke out. Many homes were destroyed by fire, while some apartments were flooded as rescuers actively extinguished the blaze. Operational headquarters were set up near the affected buildings where people could come to warm up, eat, and apply for restoration of damaged property. Since the attack, utility services have started to eliminate the consequences of the attack. As soon as it got light, they began closing broken windows, as freezing temperatures were observed outside, and the premises would cool down quickly.
In addition to the residential building that suffered the most, there are other damaged high-rise buildings and many wrecked vehicles.
It is reminded that Russia struck a port in the Odesa region.
These events confirm the concern for the safety of the population in the region, as attacks on civilian objects continue. Local residents, trying to cope with the aftermath, receive support from the authorities and rescue services, but psychological trauma remains a current issue. With each attack, feelings of fear and insecurity only increase.
