According to the head of the council of reservists of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ivan Timochko, the Russian military attempted to replicate the 'Avdiivka scenario' and use the gas pipeline in Sudzhy of the Kursk region to infiltrate into the territory of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian intelligence discovered the enemy's plans and their planning errors in advance. In particular, the Russian command did not properly consider the routes and logistics.

'Let's start with the fact that the Russians tried to use the gas pipeline to conduct an operation, repeating the Avdiivka method of infiltrating our rear. However, our intelligence worked well at the initial stage. It turned out that there were many mistakes in the Russian command from the very beginning of the operation, when the routes were not thought through,'
- he noted.

The operation lasted several days, and the Russian military found themselves in a confined space under difficult conditions. When they tried to surface, it turned out that they were exhausted due to lack of food and water, as they did not have the necessary supplies while being in the pipes.

Timochko also emphasized that the Ukrainian defenders were aware of the preparations for the operation and calculated the possible exit points of the enemy.

'As for our military, it should be noted that they knew exactly that such an operation was being planned, and they even thought through the possible routes of the enemy's exit. The pipe, more than 15 kilometers long, could have allowed the Russians to emerge anywhere, but they were met at a specific point,'
- Timochko said.
