On Wednesday evening, January 29, a plane crash occurred near Ronald Reagan Airport in Washington. A passenger plane collided with a Sikorsky H-60 helicopter during landing and crashed.
The plane, flying from Wichita to Washington on flight number 5342 of American Airlines, was carrying 60 passengers and 4 crew members. The helicopter is owned by the US Army and had three people on board.
Local police, along with other services, began a search and rescue operation on the Potomac River after receiving reports of the crash. An investigation is currently being conducted by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.
