Barcelona will not pay a penalty for Rashford: what is the reason.
Barcelona is not obliged to buy Rashford
According to The Sun: The football club Barcelona has no intention of paying Manchester United if it decides not to buy Marcus Rashford after the end of his loan.
The club's sporting director Deco confirmed that there is no 'penalty clause' in the deal, but Barcelona can sign a permanent contract with the forward.
EPAMarcus Rashford is currently on loan at Barcelona.
GettyDeco, who previously played for Chelsea, Porto, and Barcelona, mentioned in an interview with Mundo Deportivo:
“It is too early to talk about decisions for next season. The most important thing is that we are satisfied with him.”
Rashford initially aimed to join Barcelona in January, but eventually signed a contract with Aston Villa, where he scored four goals and provided six assists in 17 matches across all competitions.
This season he has successfully started under Hansi Flick, who is forming a strong attacking line with Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, Ferran Lopez, and Robert Lewandowski.
Not long ago, Rashford scored his first goals for the Catalans in a group stage match of the Champions League against Newcastle United.
Deco also emphasized:
“He is meeting our expectations.”
“He is a high-level player. Initially, his career made an impression, and later he had a few successful seasons at United.
“Then there were tough times associated with coaching changes, and perhaps it wasn't easy for him, as the demands on him were high.”
“But we are satisfied with him, and that is the most important thing at the moment. It is too early to make decisions about the future.”
The 27-year-old footballer aims to consistently make it to the England national team under Thomas Tuchel ahead of the 2026 World Cup in America.
Rashford's form at Barcelona
Rashford's performance at Barcelona will be crucial for his chances, as Flick has started to rely on him more actively.
The German coach has fielded Rashford in the last five matches, where he has accumulated four assists, one of which was in league matches.
Flick noted:
“I have seen [improvement] in the recent games. The match against Newcastle gave him a lot of confidence.”
“Now he is here. He has adapted well in Barcelona. And that is not always easy.”
“When moving from another league to La Liga it can be challenging, as the style of play and the opponents differ, but he is handling it well.”A crucial component of Rashford's success at Barcelona is his ability to adapt to new conditions and the team's play. How he performs in the upcoming matches will determine not only his status at the club but also the possibility of returning to the England national team. This could play a significant role in his career in the coming years, considering the upcoming World Cup.
