Barcelona fans pay to watch the match from balconies

According to The Sun: Barcelona fans paid £432 to watch the game from apartment balconies. This happened due to the chaotic reconstruction of Camp Nou.

Hansie Flick's team played their first home match of the season against Valencia at the significantly smaller Johan Cruyff Stadium on Sunday.

The stadium, with a capacity of 6,000, usually hosts the women's team and the second squad, but received permission to hold this La Liga match due to delays in the opening of Camp Nou.

This was the first official match at the new stadium, and it caused chaos.

According to the Spanish publication Sport, some fans tried to squeeze the opportunity to enter buildings with apartments that directly overlook the field.

One resident even said he was offered £432 for access to the balcony.

Some rooms at one end of the stadium have a good view of the arena, allowing residents to observe such Barcelona stars as Robert Lewandowski, Marcus Rashford and Pedri.

Those who managed to get tickets or occupy a balcony witnessed the champions' rout with a score of 6-0, with five goals in the second half.

Fermin Lopez opened the scoring, while Rafinha and Lewandowski each scored twice, concluding a bright victory.

Barcelona's next home match will be against Getafe on September 21, and a few days later the team will play away against Newcastle in the Champions League.

The reconstruction of Camp Nou, which costs £1.25 billion, is still not finished, and the opening, planned for November 2024, is delayed. The Spanish giant is waiting for permission to return to their historic but yet unrenovated stadium.

For the past two years, Barcelona has been playing at the Olympic Stadium, which accommodates 55,000 spectators.

La Liga leaders granted special permission to hold the match against Valencia at a stadium that does not meet the minimum requirement of 15,000 seats.

Upon completion of the renovation, Camp Nou will be able to accommodate 105,000 fans.

Currently, final safety approvals are awaited, as some construction work is still ongoing. Construction is expected to be completed before the start of NEXT SEASON, as a significant part of the upper tier still requires completion.

The important renovation of Camp Nou, which has lasted several years, significantly affected match attendance, leading to unusual situations like balconies. Spectators are looking for ways not to miss their favorite team, unconventional solutions such as access to the sixth floor testify to the fans' dedication and interest in the team, even in unconventional circumstances.
