Romania introduces a new requirement for Ukrainian drivers: without this document, you won't be allowed in
Ukrainians planning to travel to Romania by car should be cautious. Now, border guards of the neighboring country will check for another document, without which crossing the border will not be possible. Its absence is grounds for refusal of entry.

What documents are needed to cross the border with Romania

The new entry rules for Romania apply to Ukrainian drivers crossing the border in their own vehicles. Now, in addition to the standard list of documents, there is one more requirement - a certificate of technical maintenance of the vehicle.

This document confirms that the car is operational, has no serious damage, meets safety standards, and does not exceed the permissible level of emissions. It can only be issued by a certified technical service station (TSS) after a complete inspection of the vehicle.

List of documents that are now mandatory at the border:

  • biometric passport or passport with a visa;
  • international driver's license;
  • vehicle registration document;
  • 'Green card' (insurance policy);
  • power of attorney (if the car does not belong to the driver);
  • certificate of technical maintenance.

Without one of these documents, Romanian border guards may refuse entry and force the driver to return to Ukraine.

In addition, drivers should remember about prohibited items for import. It is not allowed to bring weapons, explosives, drugs, unpackaged animal products, large amounts of cash (over 10,000 euros without declaration), as well as a significant quantity of alcohol or tobacco into Romania.

Recall that we wrote about why elderly people are fined in transportation. We also reported what needs to be done immediately at the Polish border.

To cross the border with Romania in their own cars, Ukrainian drivers now need to have one more document - a certificate of technical maintenance of the vehicle. This has become a mandatory condition that border guards can check during border crossing. It is also worth remembering about prohibited items for import to avoid unpleasant situations during the trip.
