Drone attack on an oil refinery in Russia

According to inkorr.com: On the night of October 4, drones attacked the 'Kirishinefteorgsintez' (KINEF) oil refinery in the Leningrad region of Russia, located approximately 800 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. After the attack, a fire broke out on the refinery's premises.

The ASTRA monitoring group analyzed photographs from the scene and confirmed that a fire indeed occurred at the oil refinery. While details regarding the damages have not yet been disclosed, the governor of the Leningrad region confirmed the attack and reported successful firefighting efforts.

NASA FIRMS satellite images show the focal point of the fire near the 'Kirishinefteorgsintez' oil refinery, one of the largest in Russia. This is the fourth attack on this facility, with previous incidents occurring in September 2023, March 2023, and March 2024.

Thus, on the night of October 4, one of the largest oil refineries in Russia once again became a victim of a drone attack. Analysis of photographs confirms the consequences of this attack, and the regional governor noted the effectiveness of the firefighting efforts.

This incident underscores the growing tension in the region, as attacks on strategically important facilities by drones are becoming increasingly frequent. Time will tell what consequences this event will have for the situation in Russia and its surroundings, as well as whether measures will be taken to enhance the security of critical infrastructure facilities.
