One shopper enthusiastically shared her impressions:
“I have to try them all,”while another added:
“I need to go to B&M – I want them all.”
Another commentator wrote:
“Aero Double Chocolate Brownies look delicious.”
However, not everyone is fond of the constant new flavors. One shopper commented:
“Why can't they just leave everything as it is?”
Festive Flavors from B&M
B&M has also recently launched two festive flavors, each costing just £1.
The first flavor is Peppermint Bombe made with milk chocolate, prepared with mini raspberry balls and crushed mint.
The second one is White Choc Flavour Caramelised Biscuit Bombe, which combines white chocolate with crumbs of caramelized biscuits and mini raspberry balls.
Meanwhile, the most beloved festive chocolate treats in Britain are becoming smaller and more expensive due to rising production costs.
According to The Grocer, brands like Quality Street, Terry’s Chocolate Orange, Toblerone, and Cadbury Roses have reduced their packaging sizes while increasing prices.
Rising Costs of Dry Food
These increases have occurred against a backdrop of record-high cocoa prices, caused by crop shortages in West Africa due to drought and the spread of diseases, such as cocoa swelling virus.
Additionally, rising energy costs and large regulatory expenses have become an added burden.
A representative from the Food and Drink Federation noted:
“Food producers have had to change the sizes of their products to continue offering customers their favorite products at reasonable prices.”
For example, the 750g tub of Cadbury Roses has been replaced with a slightly smaller 700g version at Morrisons – a reduction of 6.7%, while the price increased by 17.9%, from £14 to £16.50.
Large Toblerone bars have also reduced in size by 5.6%, now weighing 340g instead of 360g. Prices have risen by 16.7% to £7 at Morrisons and by 12.5% to £6.75 at Sainsbury’s.
However, Tesco has kept its price unchanged at £6.
A Mondelez representative, the owner of Cadbury and Toblerone, explained that the costs of cocoa, milk, energy, and transportation remain significantly high, making price hikes unavoidable.
AlamyThus, the chocolate snack market is facing challenges, including rising product prices and new flavors trying to meet growing consumer demands. At the same time, producers cannot ignore the rising costs and are taking steps to adapt.
It remains to be seen how these changes will affect consumer habits and demand for chocolate products in the future.
