57-year-old Becker, former Wimbledon champion, spent eight months in British prisons for hiding millions from creditors. He was initially sent to HMP Wandsworth, then to Huntercombe, a foreign national prison in Oxford, before being deported to Germany in December 2022.

He has now shared shocking details of life in that place, where he had to endure cold, hunger, and constant fear.

Dangerous Conditions in Prison

Becker told the Daily Mail that even a simple game of poker could lead to serious consequences. Despite the enormous wealth he had earned in the past, he became a target for prison gamblers.

“I found out I owed them 500 pounds,” Becker said. “It was a shock. Outside it means nothing, but inside - it's a lot of money - your weekly profit for about eight months.”

One day, two players entered his cell and asked: 'When will you pay?' The threat became a reality when one inmate, convicted of murder, warned Becker about the danger from their group's leader.

“Otherwise, you'll see how crazy he can be,” Becker recalled.

Encounter with a Murderer

Becker mentioned how he later had a conflict with a murderer named Zak, who threatened to kill him.

“One day I was coming back from lunch with a tray of food,” Becker recounted. “As I passed Ayk's cell, Zak was there. He assaulted me with threats.”

Only the intervention of other prisoners saved Becker. After a few days, Zak apologized, kneeling and kissing his hand.

Natural Order in Prison

Becker described prison as a “dangerous place,” where survival depends on alliances. He befriended Ayk, a large drug dealer who controlled his floor, and another inmate who once cut his hair.

Despite all the threats, Becker was amazed when other inmates organized an unforgettable birthday celebration for him with three homemade cakes.

“I couldn't believe it,” he said. “Never in my life have I received three cakes for one birthday.”

Return to Normal Life

Becker has repeatedly shared his experience of terrible conditions in prison, where he suffered from hunger and cold.

“You quickly realize that prisons are really run by the inmates,” he noted.

Becker was released on December 14, 2022, and flew out of the UK on a private jet to Stuttgart as part of a secret deportation.

He is now certain that his experience in prison became a catalyst for new ventures: “I knew I had to start everything anew and just begin to rebuild,” he added.

Currently, Becker has moved to Milan with his wife Lilian, whom he married on the Italian Riviera. He feels that a bright future awaits him.
