Young British Teen Disappears in Thailand
According to The Sun: 19-year-old Lawrence Honor, a talented computer technology user, is believed to be a victim of the Chinese mafia who may have lured him to a fraudulent factory after his disappearance in Thailand.
Lawrence was last seen leaving a hotel in Kanchanaburi, western Thailand, attempting to cross the border into Myanmar on September 27.

Search for the Teen
Thai police are actively searching for Lawrence, as there is a possibility that he has fallen victim to horrific fraudulent call centers.
His mother, Gulnara Honor, who lives in Thailand with his father, Julian Honor, said:
“Lawrence left home on September 26, and we have not been able to contact him. I filed a report with the police in Pattaya. I checked his email and found records of his movements in Kanchanaburi province, which has caused me great concern. He is very shy but has a good understanding of computers. I fear he may have spoken to someone online and ended up in one of these scam centers in Myanmar, where people are not allowed to leave.”
Lawrence was captured on cameras when he left the hotel on September 27 around 3:30 PM. He attempted to enter Myanmar but was sent back by border patrol due to the closed crossing because of conflicts.

Later, he was apprehended when trying to climb over a fence and was sent back.
Witnesses claim to have seen him hitchhiking, and soon a teacher picked him up.
The police are conducting an investigation and trying to find the driver who picked him up.
Colonel Sandy Pitaksakul, head of the police district in Sangkhla Buri, noted:
“The boy's mother said she still has hope. She doesn't know how he ended up here.”
Possible Reasons for His Disappearance
Authorities are considering various versions of the reasons for his trip. Lawrence may have become a victim of fraud; given the circumstances, his visit to Myanmar likely did not have tourist purposes. According to the colonel,
“Perhaps he was trying to pass through natural routes in Myanmar, possibly with the help of locals who know these paths well.”
Fraudulent call centers have been emerging in Myanmar since the military coup in February 2021. In September 2025, the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Department of the Treasury identified nine targets in Shwe Kokko, Myanmar, as well as a dozen organizations in Cambodia involved in fraud.
This situation raises concerns as the number of missing persons under similar circumstances continues to rise. Lawrence's family hopes for his swift return, and authorities urge anyone with information not to remain indifferent and to contact the police. This serves as a reminder of the need for vigilance and caution, especially in foreign countries.
