According to The Sun: A 74-year-old pensioner from the UK has died after falling from a balcony in a famous resort town. He was found in a pool of blood after falling from the 10th floor of the D-Beach hotel in Pattaya.

The holidaymaker from Prestatyn, Wales, was found face down near the roadway on Saturday evening. Police officer Fanutat Thanaksempekin, who was working nearby, heard a loud noise similar to an explosion from a transformer.

“I rushed to see what happened and found an elderly foreigner lying face down in a pool of blood. He was gasping for air. I tried to help, but he quickly died,” said Fanutat.

The police cordoned off the scene with white sheets while collecting evidence. Thai authorities are investigating the causes of death, but no criminal suspicions have been raised yet. Police Lieutenant Manasak Ponyam noted:

“We examined the scene and collected evidence. The deceased was staying in room 1079 on the tenth floor of this hotel. We checked his room and found no signs of assault or robbery.”

Surveillance cameras were also reviewed, which confirmed that no one had entered or exited the room prior to his death. The police have yet to determine whether it was an accident or suicide.

“The body has been sent to the Institute of forensic medicine for an autopsy. We will interview the hotel staff to determine the cause of death,” he added.

This tragedy is part of a series of hotel fall incidents in Thailand this year. For instance, on July 19, a drunken Russian tourist died after falling from the roof of a villa on the island of Phuket. Just days earlier, an American tourist died after falling from a hotel balcony in Chiang Mai. In June, 28-year-old Ukrainian acrobat Veronika Kobzova fell into an alley late at night while relaxing by the pool.

This incident raises concerns about tourist safety in Thailand, where balcony fall cases are becoming increasingly alarming. Authorities urge tourists to be cautious while staying in high-rise hotels and to take care of their safety during their vacation.
