British intelligence assessed Russia's losses in 2024.
According to the UK Ministry of Defence, Russia's losses in 2024 amounted to 429,000 military personnel killed or wounded. This is significantly higher than the loss levels in previous years. Overall, since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine, Russian losses have exceeded 750,000 people.
According to British intelligence reports, military losses of the Russian Federation have been steadily increasing over the last six months, reaching the highest level in December - 48,670 individuals. This is the highest indicator for the entire war period.
According to the estimates of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the total losses of Russians as of January 15 amount to about 812,670 people. Meanwhile, according to the Pentagon, Russia's losses were estimated at 600,000 military personnel.
In its report, British intelligence also noted the pressure from Russian troops in the Donetsk region, particularly in the town of Velyka Novosilka. They also highlighted the advancement of the occupiers in the northern part of the region after the capture of Vuhledar in October 2024 and Kurakhove in early 2025.
The total losses of Russian occupiers since the beginning of 2024 amounted to 421,000 people. Overall, the total losses for the entire period of the war stand at about 785,000 military personnel. In November 2024, the daily losses of Russian troops were nearly 1,500 individuals.
