The independent store Sturtons & Tappers Furnishings has announced the closure of its shop in Winton, Bournemouth, which will take place this Saturday at 5:00 PM.

The reason for the closure is the desire of directors David and Pauline Scott to retire.

Some of their colleagues are also planning to retire.

This well-known retailer is famous in Bournemouth for its timeless sofas, bespoke furniture, luxury rugs, dining sets, lighting, and home accessories.

For generations, the store has proudly furnished thousands of homes in the region.

Earlier this year, a sale took place during which customers queued to grab great offers.

Now the 70-year-old couple has announced that “everything must be sold” for the last time, including furniture, beds, wardrobes, and rugs.

The sale also includes accessories, home goods, and bedding.

A company representative recently warned:

“This is the last chance for the public to purchase premium furniture at prices that will not be repeated.”

David and Pauline are looking forward to a new chapter in their lives.

However, they are still “incredibly grateful” to their loyal customers over the years.

Previously, they explained:

“It is a bittersweet moment. We have had the privilege of furnishing thousands of homes over generations.”

“While we look forward to the next chapter, we are extremely grateful to all our loyal customers.”

“This sale is our way to say thank you.”

David and Pauline added:

“After so many years of serving the community, the reaction to our decision to retire has been both astonishing and overwhelming.”

“We are deeply grateful for the support we have received and hope to meet our customers once more before closing.”

The closure of Sturtons & Tappers Furnishings means not only the end of the story of a specific business but also saying goodbye to a beloved shopping spot for many Bournemouth residents. Over the years, the store has become a symbol of quality and tradition in the furniture trade, leaving warm memories in the hearts of customers. As its founders stated, this sale is an opportunity not just to purchase final items but to express gratitude for a long history that has connected them with their customers.
