easyJet named the best airline in the world: what new routes has it launched.
easyJet awarded for best airline
According to The Sun: The British airline easyJet has received a prestigious award at the annual Routes Awards 2025, which honors the best routes, airlines, and destinations in the world.
AlamyThis success is associated with the launch of new destinations, including Cape Verde and Tbilisi in Georgia.
Shane Lord, easyJet's Director of Network, Strategy, and Fleet, shared his joy about this achievement:
“We are very proud to have won the airline award, which recognizes the strategic expansion of the easyJet network, our commitment to connectivity, and strong partnerships with airports and tourism boards across Europe and beyond.”He also noted:
“This year we are celebrating our 30th anniversary, changing the way people travel, making it accessible to more people.”
Since its founding, the company has transported over 1.2 billion passengers and currently operates more than 1,100 routes in 150 airports across 35 countries.
Tickets for flights, for example, to Split in Croatia, Salzburg in Austria, Berlin in Germany, Corfu in Greece, Sardinia in Italy, and Malta, are available from £14.99.
The new route to Cape Verde from London Gatwick commenced flights in late March, becoming the first airline route to this country in sub-Saharan Africa.
The company also offers package tours to Cape Verde, including flights and hotel accommodations.
The beauty of Cape Verde and Tbilisi
Cape Verde is an island off the west coast of Africa, famous for its warm climate, with temperatures ranging from 24°C to 30°C for most of the year. The local sea also invites relaxation — water temperatures range from 23°C to 27°C from November to June, and the beaches of the island nation impress with golden sands and crystal-clear waters.
AlamyTbilisi, the capital of Georgia, impresses with a blend of medieval, classical, and Soviet architecture. Grateful tourists can stroll through the old town of Kala with its narrow cobbled streets, small cafes, and churches. Among the main architectural landmarks is the Narikala Fortress, dating back to the 4th century, which offers stunning views of the city and the Mtkvari River.
Food lovers can also try khachapuri — bread with a cheese filling, and khinkali — dumplings with meat, potatoes, or mushrooms.
Recognized as the best among airlines and airports
At the Routes Awards 2025, other airlines and airports were also recognized. The overall winner was Athens International Airport. Communication and Marketing Director Ioanna Papadopulo emphasized:
“We are extremely pleased to receive the prestigious Routes World award. This recognition reflects our team's hard work and celebrates dedication, vision, partnership, and teamwork!”
The best destination of the year was Las Vegas in the USA, marked by an increase in visitor numbers and improved connections.
Winning an award from Routes Awards highlights easyJet's achievements in expanding its routes and reaffirms the importance of strategic development in airline service. The introduction of new destinations such as Cape Verde and Tbilisi demonstrates the company's readiness to respond to travelers' needs and expand its offerings in popular tourist regions.
As airlines continue to compete for passengers' attention, awards of this level encourage them to enhance service and diversify the offered destinations, ultimately benefiting both companies and travelers.
