Ukrzaliznytsia Raises Free Baggage Allowance to 36 kg Under New Rules.
Updated Baggage Policy from Ukraine's National Railway
According to Novyny.live: Ukrzaliznytsia has introduced revised baggage regulations for passengers, setting new limits on the weight and dimensions of carry-on items. Under the updated policy, each traveler can bring up to 36 kg of hand luggage at no extra charge, provided the total dimensions (length, height, and width) do not exceed 200 cm. This change aims to streamline the boarding process and offer greater flexibility for those using the railway.
Extra Perks for Families Traveling with Children
Parents accompanied by children under 12 years old receive additional benefits. They are allowed to bring up to 15 kg of luggage plus a stroller free of charge. This provision is designed to make train journeys more convenient for families with young kids, reducing stress and enhancing comfort during travel.
It is important to note that different baggage rules apply on the Košice–Mukachevo route. Passengers on trains numbered 960, 961, 962, and 963 may carry items free of charge only if they fit within 70x50x30 cm. These updates are intended to improve the overall passenger experience and simplify baggage handling across the network.
The new baggage policy from Ukrzaliznytsia marks a significant step toward better service and increased travel comfort.
Family-friendly conditions like these could encourage more households to choose rail travel. Being aware of route-specific regulations—such as those for the Košice–Mukachevo service—will help passengers avoid confusion and ensure a smoother trip.
