CATL unveils electric truck battery that charges in just 7 minutes.
Tectrans II battery officially introduced
According to ITC.ua — Техно: Chinese battery giant CATL has officially launched its new Tectrans II battery, designed specifically for electric trucks and boasting remarkable fast-charging capabilities. The company reports that the battery can go from 20% to 80% charge in only 6 minutes and 48 seconds, with a full charge taking less than 9 minutes. This level of performance is a game-changer for fleet operators, significantly reducing vehicle downtime and boosting operational efficiency.
Technology and key specs
The Tectrans II is built on the Shenxing III platform, a technology CATL introduced earlier this year. Alongside ultra-fast charging, the company offers a 10-year warranty on the product, underscoring its confidence in the battery's durability and long-term reliability. However, in temperatures as low as –20°C, charging time increases by about 2.5 minutes— an important consideration for fleets operating in colder climates.
CATL states that its batteries are capable of lasting more than 965,600 kilometers (approximately 600,000 miles) while retaining significant capacity. This highlights the high performance and dependability of the battery systems, which could become a cornerstone in the advancement of electric heavy-duty transport.
The launch of the Tectrans II underscores the critical role of innovation in the electric mobility sector, especially for commercial vehicles where fast charging and reliability are essential. Technologies like this could accelerate the adoption of electric trucks, cutting idle time and improving fleet productivity. In turn, this shift could help reduce carbon emissions and support the transition to more sustainable transportation systems.
