According to inkorr.com: On October 25, Russia launched a powerful overnight strike on Kyiv, which severely impacted the pharmaceutical sector - a warehouse complex and the office of the company 'Optima-Pharm', the second-largest distributor of medical products in Ukraine, were destroyed. Initial damage estimates are around 100 million dollars. This was reported by Liga.net.

The warehouse was completely destroyed and supplied medicines to pharmacies and hospitals in the central regions of the country. The company 'Optima-Pharm' confirmed the destruction and stated that the damage amounts are 'close to one hundred million dollars'.

Scale of the destruction

  • The area of the destroyed warehouse was 29,000 sq. meters, as reported by the contractor company Volantis, which performed electrical installation work at the facility.

  • This complex was an important logistics center for the company.

  • This is the second attack on 'Optima-Pharm' facilities in two months – the previous one occurred on August 28, when Russian troops shelled another warehouse in Kyiv.

Who is 'Optima-Pharm'

The company has been operating in the Ukrainian market for 31 years and is the second-largest distributor of medicinal products after 'BaDM'. According to Forbes Ukraine, the business belongs to Andriy Hubskiy, who owns 33% of the company and controls 12 pharmacy warehouses with a total area of over 70,000 sq. meters.

Although Hubskiy avoids publicity, his company remains an important player in the pharmaceutical market, ensuring the operation of a significant part of pharmacy networks in Ukraine. The destruction of the central warehouse, according to experts, may temporarily complicate the supply of medicines in several regions, including Kyiv, Cherkasy, and Poltava.

Earlier it was reported that on the night of October 25, Russian occupiers again , launching a strike on Kyiv. According to the data from the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy fired 71 means of aerial attack, including nine ballistic missiles and 62 drones.

This attack underscores the ongoing risks faced by critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine, as well as confirms the need to protect the pharmaceutical sector, which plays a key role in meeting the medical needs of the population. The destruction of the 'Optima-Pharm' warehouse may have far-reaching consequences not only for the company but also for the healthcare system as a whole.
