Border Crossing Delays on March 12: Heaviest Traffic and Non-Operational Checkpoints.
Current Situation at Ukraine's Border
According to Novyny.live: As of March 12, 2023, significant queues of passenger cars and buses have formed at Ukraine's border crossings. Travelers are advised to anticipate potential disruptions in electronic control systems, which may slow down border clearance procedures. These delays are a recurring challenge for cross-border travel in the region.
Queue Lengths at Specific Border Checkpoints
Notable vehicle backlogs have been reported at the following crossing points:
- Shehyni checkpoint — 45 passenger cars;
- Kosyno checkpoint — 10 passenger cars;
- Luzhanka checkpoint — 10 passenger cars;
- Uhryniv checkpoint — 10 passenger cars;
- Ustyluh checkpoint — 15 passenger cars and 1 bus.
Checkpoints with Restrictions or Closures
Several other border crossing points are operating with limitations or are completely closed:
- Yahodyn checkpoint — pedestrian and passenger car traffic is suspended;
- Krakivets — Korczowa checkpoint — repair work began on March 12 and is scheduled to last for one week;
- Rava-Ruska, Hrushiv, Smilnytsia, Nyzhankovychi, Diakove, Solotvyno, Porubne, Krasnoilsk, Diakivtsi, Mamalyha, Kelmentsi, Rososhany, and Sokiryany checkpoints — all traffic is suspended.
At the Mali Bereznyi and Uzhhorod checkpoints, pedestrian crossing is permitted in both directions. The Mali Selmentsi checkpoint is open from 09:00 to 21:00. Pedestrian crossing is also suspended at the Tysa and Dzvinkove checkpoints.
Drivers and travelers planning to cross the border must account for these factors and be prepared for potential delays. The overall situation remains tense due to ongoing restrictions and repairs, which can complicate journeys. It is crucial for travelers to monitor updates on checkpoint operating hours and plan their trips based on the latest information to avoid unexpected setbacks.
