Border Delays on February 27: Which Ukrainian Checkpoints Are Most Affected.
Ukraine's Border Situation as of February 27, 2023
According to Novyny.live: As of the morning of February 27, 2023, significant queues have formed at several Ukrainian border crossing points. Travelers and drivers have been warned of potential disruptions to electronic services, which could further complicate border crossings. These delays are occurring at frontiers with Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Moldova.
Border authorities had already reported substantial hold-ups at certain checkpoints by 09:00 on February 26. Notably, the 'Yahodyn' checkpoint has currently suspended the passage of pedestrians and passenger vehicles. Other crossing points are experiencing their own specific conditions:
- At the 'Ustyluh' checkpoint, 35 passenger vehicles are currently waiting.
- The 'Shehyni' checkpoint has a queue of 10 passenger cars, with pedestrian traffic moving in both directions.
- The 'Malyi Bereznyi' checkpoint is also processing pedestrians in both directions.
- A line of 10 passenger vehicles is observed at the 'Uzhhorod' checkpoint, where pedestrian crossing is likewise operational in both directions.
- Currently, 5 passenger cars are waiting at the 'Tysa' checkpoint, and 10 at the 'Luzhanka' checkpoint.
- Meanwhile, pedestrian crossing is not available at the 'Dyakove' checkpoint.
Drivers and passengers are advised to account for potential delays and plan their journeys based on the latest information regarding checkpoint status. High cross-border traffic is common following holidays or due to business travel, and technical issues can exacerbate wait times.
Heightened Border Crossing Activity
The situation at the border indicates a high level of crossing activity. This surge is likely influenced by multiple factors, including post-holiday returns and business travel. The reported electronic service failures may add further complications. It is therefore crucial to monitor updates from border guard services and plan trips well in advance to mitigate unexpected delays.
