Border Crossing Situation Between Ukraine and Poland
According to Novyny.live: On June 6, long queues formed at the Ukraine-Poland border, with more than 370 vehicles backed up on the Ukrainian side awaiting exit. Conditions at crossing points are tense, especially at the Krakivets checkpoint, which has the highest volume of traffic.
Vehicle Counts at Checkpoints
According to available data, the number of cars at various border crossings is as follows:
- Uhryniv checkpoint – 25 cars
- Rava-Ruska checkpoint – 65 cars
- Hrushiv checkpoint – 25 cars
- Krakivets checkpoint – 100 cars
- Shehyni checkpoint – 60 cars
- Nyzhankovychi checkpoint – 25 cars
- Ustyluh checkpoint – 95 cars
A significant number of buses are also expected at the following checkpoints:
- Krakivets checkpoint – 13 buses
- Shehyni checkpoint – 13 buses
- Ustyluh checkpoint – 1 bus
Notably, the Smilnytsia and Nyzhankovychi crossings remain open and free of congestion. Meanwhile, passenger traffic is projected to increase by 20% in June. While authorities say the situation is under control, drivers and passengers are advised to prepare for extended wait times.
This border congestion reflects a surge in movement between Ukraine and Poland, likely tied to the start of the summer travel season and a rise in work-related trips. The higher passenger flow suggests many people are planning journeys, leading to backups at checkpoints. Officials urge drivers to account for possible delays and plan their trips in advance.
