Josh Ecclesh's unusual injury

According to The Sun: Coventry City player Josh Ecclesh spoke about a strange injury that led to the formation of an additional bone in his leg.

The 25-year-old midfielder missed the entire preseason due to an injury sustained during the playoff semifinal match against Sunderland in May. His return occurred in a scoreless match against Leicester last week.

Causes of the injury

Ecclesh received two strikes in the same spot within five minutes, after which his condition worsened, and he decided to get a scan. As a result of the examination, it became known that due to a large amount of blood accumulating around the bone, the body began to form new bone material.

“It was a strange injury. I got hit twice in the same spot within five minutes and had to leave the game. Usually, such injuries heal within a few weeks. But after three weeks, it got worse, so I asked for a scan,”

he added, noting that to this day, a new bone is actually forming in his left leg.

“Technically, right now, I have an additional bone that has been growing for two months,”

Ecclesh noted.

Return to the game

The player, a graduate of the Coventry academy, has played 162 matches and signed a new contract in November, which will last until 2028.

He admits that the summer was full of difficulties and pain. In a conversation, he said that even lifting his leg was extremely painful, and he thought it might affect his career.

“But the more I trained, the less pain I felt. Now I am back to normal,”

he added. Ecclesh noted that his aggressive style of play remains unchanged, and the match against Leicester confirmed that he hasn't lost his agility.

“This aggressiveness will always be a part of me,”

he stated.

Ecclesh came on as a substitute in the 76th minute and is now eager to prove himself on the team during the new championship round.

“No one expected this injury to drag on. Missing the preseason slowed down my development, so I felt great satisfaction getting a few minutes on the field,”

he shared.

Ecclesh will prepare for the match on Saturday against Birmingham City, hoping to help his team reach new heights in the championship.
