According to The Sun: Injuries have become a serious issue for Chelsea at the start of the season, and the situation is only worsening for coach Enzo Maresca.

At a press conference on Friday, the Italian coach reported that EIGHT players will be unable to participate in the match against league leaders Liverpool this weekend.

If Chelsea loses, the team will be 10 points behind the reigning champions after just seven matches, although Maresca is confident that his charges can still compete with the best teams until the end of the season.

Levi Colwill's injury during the first training session of the season has kept their main center-back out of the game for a long time, as he had to undergo surgery due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Difficult circumstances for the team

Due to a combination of other injuries and suspensions, Chelsea is left with only Benoit Badiashile, who has played just 92 minutes of football since the end of June, as the 'senior' option in defense.

The suspension of Trevoh Chalobah, a concussion for Wesley Fofana, as well as a calf muscle injury to Tosin Adarabioyo mean that Chelsea will not be able to field FOUR center-backs in the match against Liverpool.

Besides Badiashile, Maresca will have to call up either Josh Achempon or Yorrel Hato, both 19 years old, to face one of the strongest attacks in the Premier League on Saturday.

Chelsea's coach is confident in his young players, despite their age, stating:

“Cole is still injured, Trevoh is suspended, we have seven or eight players who will not be in tomorrow's game.
“It is a fact that I really trust the young players. Not only those we buy but also those who are raised in the academy. Josh Achempon has already played, which shows that I trust the young players. We have four or five defenders missing. We will try to adapt and find the right solution for tomorrow.
“I consider them (Liverpool) the best team in England at the moment, as they have shown it and won the Premier League. We are improving and trying to solve our problems. Undoubtedly, in the end, we will be there and close.'

The problems Maresca faces are not limited to defense. He must also overcome several injuries affecting creativity and goal scoring.

Cole Palmer, Andrey Santos, Dario Esugo and Liam Delap will not be able to play against Liverpool, while Moises Caicedo and Joao Pedro have featured in every match, even if not in their best form.

Caicedo and Pedro were in question before the game against Benfica, but ultimately took the field, the former for all 90 minutes.

Expectations for the match against Liverpool

The absence of Palmer and Delap creates an additional burden on the new talent at Stamford Bridge, Estevan, or the loaned player from Brighton, Facundo Buonnotte. Pedro is expected to return to the field as a forward.

However, Chelsea will get the return of Romeo Lavia after the Champions League match against Benfica, although Maresca will be cautious not to rush his return in such a tense game.

ABSENT PLAYERS OF 'CHELSEA'

'Chelsea' will not be able to count on EIGHT players in the match against 'Liverpool' this weekend, including Cole Palmer and Tosin Adarabioyo, who watched the victory over Benfica from the bench.

Wesley Fofana - concussion

Tosin Adarabioyo - calf muscle issue

Trevoh Chalobah - suspended

Levi Colwill - anterior cruciate ligament injury

Dario Esugo - thigh injury

Andrey Santos - unconfirmed information

Cole Palmer - groin injury

Liam Delap - thigh injury

This difficult situation regarding the squad puts Chelsea in a challenging position ahead of an important match. The lack of squad resources could be a critical factor affecting the team’s results. The coach and players will demonstrate what they are capable of in facing a strong opponent and will try to secure important points despite all the difficulties.
