Chelsea Fans Against Ticket Price Hikes for Champions League

According to The Sun: Chelsea fans have criticized the club for raising ticket prices for the Champions League ahead of the return of former manager José Mourinho.

Supporters are outraged that the match against Benfica initiated category AA, leading to increased prices.

The price of an adult ticket rose to £71-83, with no discounts for seniors or youth in many sections of Stamford Bridge.

The Chelsea Supporters' Trust noted:

“Chelsea Supporters’ Trust (CST) is deeply concerned about how the club is conducting ticket sales for upcoming Champions League matches.”
They emphasized that the new decisions are marked by poor communication, unjustified price hikes, and disregard for fan interests.

Outraged fans noted that Chelsea is selling tickets for four home Champions League matches only as a single package, making it difficult for them to find their place without purchasing all four tickets.

CST launched the #StopExploitingLoyalty campaign in the summer when the club raised prices for season tickets and subscriptions.

Director Danny Finkelstein responded to one fan on social media regarding the necessity of a £71 price:

“Because we need revenue to be competitive.”
He stressed that all funds go towards the club's development.

Meanwhile, other fans pointed out that ticket sales account for less than 20% of the club's total revenue, and that new sponsorship has a much greater impact on financial stability.

Chelsea continues to spark outrage among fans, claiming that subscribing to four matches is complicated while individual tickets cost only slightly less than in a package.

The club also assures that prices are comparable to other teams and were set after discussions with the Chelsea Fans' Board.

The increase in Chelsea's ticket prices has caused an uproar among fans who find such changes unacceptable. Some fans have boycotted ticket purchases, which may impact match attendance. In the current situation, it is crucial for the club to consider the opinions of its supporters and find compromises that not only support financial stability but also maintain fan loyalty.
