Mourinho returns to Chelsea: Champions League match predictions.
Chelsea vs Benfica: match preview
According to The Sun: Jose Mourinho is returning to Stamford Bridge, but this time in the role of head coach of Benfica. He will meet Chelsea in the Champions League.
During his two coaching stints at Chelsea, Mourinho managed 321 games and won three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, and three League Cups, as well as reaching the Champions League semi-finals three times.
Now his task is to stop Chelsea's progress in this competition, as the club has struggled since his departure.
The only win Mourinho has achieved at Stamford Bridge as an opposing manager was in March 2010 when his Inter Milan defeated Chelsea 1:0 in the Champions League. Since then, he has failed to win any of his six away games against Chelsea.
Benfica's situation is also not very promising, as the team has not won their last eight encounters with English clubs (3 draws, 5 losses).
Benfica's Champions League campaign started on a disappointing note, with a home loss to Qarabağ resulting in the sacking of Bruno Lage.
Mourinho has already marked his first three Premier League matches with two wins and one draw, but the trip to Chelsea will be a serious test for him.
For Enzo Maresca, the head coach of Chelsea, this match comes during a tough period.
His team has lost three of their last four matches, with their only victory in September coming against Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup.
Chelsea currently sits in eighth place in the Premier League, seven points behind leaders Liverpool, and hopes for success in European competitions after losing their first Champions League match to Bayer.
Their biggest challenge is keeping 11 players on the pitch.

The match between Chelsea and Benfica promises to be tense and interesting as both teams seek a way to succeed in the Champions League. Mourinho has considerable experience, but the task is not easy — to convince the Benfica team of their strengths, especially considering the less-than-ideal start to the season. Chelsea, for their part, will try to find their game and get back on the winning path after recent setbacks.
