Horner is negotiating with F1 teams: who will invite the former Red Bull boss in 2026.
Horner Leads Negotiations in Formula 1
According to The Sun: Christian Horner is negotiating with 'every team owner' in Formula 1, trying to return to the sport in 2026.
The 51-year-old Horner was fired from his position as head of Red Bull in July after 20 years of service, receiving a severance package of 80 million pounds.
APSunSport reports that Horner may return to Formula 1 in the spring of 2026 when his 'leave' ends. He plans to re-enter motorsport in a role that would allow him to make managerial decisions and possibly invest in teams.
Negotiations with 'Haas' have been confirmed but will not progress further. However, Horner has faced another serious blow to his plans: three teams have confirmed that they will not collaborate with him.
“I spoke to Lawrence [Stroll], and it seems Christian is calling all the team owners at the moment,” said the head of Aston Martin.
Steven Nielsen from 'Alpine' also confirmed that Horner has had negotiations with the notoriously controversial Flavio Briatore, but there are no signs of his joining the French team.
“As far as I know, it is not true that Christian will join Alpine,” he noted.
Briatore, a long-time friend of Horner, may support his candidacy at 'Alpine', the parent company of which is Renault. James Vowles, who recently celebrated his first podium as head of 'Williams' at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, has also not closed the door to a possible approach from Horner, but emphasized that the team is satisfied with its current position.
“It is always worth continuing the conversation; there is no point in closing the door,” he said.
It is worth noting that this weekend the race received the first ever 'heat dangerous weather' warning from the FIA, with temperatures possibly rising to 31 degrees.
Amid Horner's active negotiations, the situation in Formula 1 remains dynamic, as teams not only compete for titles but also actively select new leaders and strategies. Horner's return could significantly impact the balance of power in the sport, but for now, his future remains uncertain.
