Horner's payment loss

According to The Sun: Christian Horner may lose almost half of his £80 million compensation from Red Bull after his dismissal.

The team principal was fired in July due to poor performance and a year after the sex messaging scandal.

Tax on payment

Horner, who is 51-years-old, was accused of 'misconduct' toward a colleague, but did not admit his guilt.

The payout was significant as his contract with Red Bull Racing was valid until 2030.

£80 million would more than double his net worth, previously estimated at £40 million.

However, according to OLGB data, HMRC may take a significant part of this amount.

Horner has to pay tax on £79,970,000 at a rate of 45%.

This amounts to an impressive £35,986,500 in taxes, which is almost half of £80 million.

This money could fund the education of 537 new nurses in the NHS.

If Horner had accepted his original exit proposal, the taxes would have been even higher.

Future opportunities

According to reports, Horner may get a new job in 2026, but only after the start of the season, according to his agreement with Red Bull.

He is already hinting at a possible stake acquisition in Alpine, which could lead to collaboration with Bernie Ecclestone.

However, Alpine's manager Flavio Briatore denied the information about this partnership.

Horner, who married Spice Girls member Geri Halliwell in 2015, is projected to have a net worth of £50 million by 2024.

Horner's contract issues and future career opportunities underscore the complexities of situations in sports management, where personal and professional factors can influence financial health and reputation. His future steps may determine not only his own career but also the situation in the Red Bull team and other Formula 1 teams.
