Zelensky on Lavrov's Statements: Russia is Seeking Justification for New Strikes.
According to ТСН: Statements by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov regarding an alleged attempt by Ukraine to attack a drone at Putin's residence have caused serious concern and may significantly complicate peace negotiations.
President Volodymyr Zelensky shared his thoughts on this matter on social media. He noted:
"Very dangerous statements have recently come from Russia, which are clearly aimed at undermining all the achievements of our joint work with President Trump's team. We are working together to bring peace closer."
Zelensky is convinced that the Russian side has fabricated a fake story about a strike on Putin's residence to justify:
the continuation of attacks on Ukraine, particularly on Kyiv;
the refusal to take necessary steps to end the war.
The president emphasized:
"Typical deceitful tactics of the Russians. Especially those who have already struck Kyiv, including the building of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine."
He assured that Ukraine is taking no steps that could weaken diplomacy; on the contrary, it is Russia that always takes such steps. Zelensky called on the international community not to stand aside to avoid disrupting the peace process.
Recall that Lavrov accused Ukraine of a drone attack on Putin's residence in the Novgorod region, likely referring to the so-called 'bunker' of Putin in Valdai. Lavrov also threatened that due to this Russia would "review its negotiation position."
The National Security and Defense Council emphasized that Lavrov is simply masking a desire to continue strikes in response to the "attack on Putin's residence."
The situation remains very tense, as such statements can lead to an escalation of the conflict. It is important for the international community to actively respond to these challenges and support peace initiatives in order to avoid new victims. This stage of negotiations requires special attention from all participants in the process.
