Disappeared currencies — how many are there in the world
Currently, there are about 600 currencies in the world that have officially gone out of circulation, although they were previously used for various goods and services, reports the publication Bitrawr.
The list of outdated currencies includes:
- Yugoslav dinar;
- Ljubljana lira;
- Hungarian forint;
- coupon-karbovanets;
- Azerbaijani tuman;
- Czechoslovak koruna;
- Soviet ruble;
- East African florin;
- Austrian krone.
The German mark, which was the official currency in Germany since 1948, is also on this list. This currency played an important role in the recovery of the economy after the war, but it was abandoned in favor of the euro in 2002.
