OCU debunked the myth about Friday the 13th

The Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) explained that superstitions regarding Friday the 13th are merely a manifestation of weak faith and lack of confidence in one's own abilities. They hold no magical power and do not affect our lives. It is a phobia that originates from other countries and was adopted through cinema, literature, and art. They note that any day can be made happy and useful if approached with faith and a positive attitude.

The church explains that the fear of the combination of Friday and the 13th is simply a phobia that hasn't originated from our culture and has various versions of origin. They also talk about the symbolism of Friday, which reminds us of the suffering and death of Jesus Christ.

The church urges society not to seek mysticism in this date and not to believe in tales about unlucky numbers. They emphasize that a person decides how to relate to any day and number, thus defining its character and outcomes. There is no need to succumb to superstitions and believe in omens.
