Is it worth waiting for severe frosts: climatologist talked about temperature expectations for winter 2025.
Winter forecast in Ukraine: expected cold and improvement
This winter, Ukrainians are expecting typical negative temperatures with characteristic frosty periods, as leading climatologist Yevgeniya Zasyadko reported in an expert interview with Glavred.
The specialist emphasized that there should not be radical changes in the winter season.
Scientific research shows the preservation of traditional climatic patterns, although with certain transformational tendencies. In particular, the preservation of cold periods with temperatures below -15 degrees is anticipated, but with less pronounced temperature fluctuations between seasons.
The expert emphasized that discussions about the complete disappearance of winter are unfounded. On the contrary, the winter period will remain an integral part of the climatic cycle, although it may show a tendency towards gradual softening compared to previous years:
'We should not expect that in 10 years there will be no winter and we will walk in T-shirts - no, this will not happen. Winter will remain; it will also be this year. How cold it will be is hard to say right now. In fact, compared to previous years, our winters are becoming milder. In wartime conditions, this only helps us, as we use fewer resources, we need less electricity for heating. And it is also easier for the European Union since they can more quickly phase out Russian gas.'
