Power outage schedules remain: Ministry of Energy named the main reason

According to ТСН: Despite the tireless efforts of energy workers, it is currently impossible to cancel power outage schedules in Ukraine. The main reason for this is regular attacks by Russia on energy facilities and the reduced capacity of electrical networks.

Acting Minister of Energy Artem Nekrasov noted that the government is working on a solution that will allow for the release of additional power capacities for household consumers.

Consequences of attacks and current state of the system

During the night of the shelling, the enemy struck the Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Cherkasy, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, leaving more than 180,000 consumers without electricity. Although energy workers quickly restored supply for most of them, the situation in certain regions remains complicated. For example, in the Odesa region, due to the consequences of previous massive attacks, more than 12,000 households still remain without electricity, requiring round-the-clock repair work.

New reserves and generation development

To improve the situation, the Ministry of Energy has initiated a review of the list of facilities that are not critical. This will allow them to be transferred to general outage schedules, thereby enabling the redirection of an additional 800 MW of electrical energy to ordinary consumers.

By the end of the year, the launch of another 300 MW of distributed generation is also planned. The business and private sector play an important role in this situation: solar power plants with a total capacity of about 1 GW have already been installed in Ukraine, and the state supports such initiatives through preferential loans.

Energy expert Mykhailo Gonchar warned that with the onset of cold weather, the situation in the energy system could worsen due to increased consumption and serious damage to high-voltage transformers. He also noted that new attacks on heat and power plants, water utilities, railways, and other transport infrastructure are possible.

Thus, the situation in the energy sector remains critical. Given the constant threats from the aggressor and the decreased technical readiness of the networks, the government and the energy community still need to take a number of measures to improve electricity supply and reduce the consequences of outages for the population. Supporting businesses and implementing new technologies may also be key to stabilizing Ukraine's energy system amid war.
