Barley and Corn Prices on the Rise

According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian traders are securing export contracts for barley and corn as prices for these crops climb, driven by frost and unstable weather conditions. As of now, barley is priced between 10,800 and 11,000 hryvnias per ton in ports. A ton of corn costs $212, equivalent to over 9,000 hryvnias. Ukraine is a major global supplier of these grains, making such price movements significant for international markets.

Barley Export Trends and Market Shifts

Barley exports from Ukraine are also showing strong activity. As of February 1, 2026, Ukraine has exported 1.3 million tons of barley. For comparison, during the same period in 2024, over 2 million tons were sold abroad. The current export potential for barley is estimated at 1 to 1.2 million tons.

Prices for other crops are also reaching high levels:

  • A ton of rapeseed cost 25,000 hryvnias in early February.

The rising prices for barley and corn, coupled with increased export activity, point to significant shifts in Ukraine's agricultural market.

This price surge could be a major factor for Ukraine's agricultural sector, potentially impacting farmer incomes and the broader economy. The uptick in exports indicates robust international demand for Ukrainian farm products, which may strengthen the country's position as a key player in global agriculture. However, ongoing weather volatility remains a risk that could affect future crop yields and productivity in the country.
